Three Christmas Truths For All Of Us

Christmas is nigh. I have always thought it to be the most wonderful time of the year! Yet, this year it has snuck up on me, and I am not sure. I am grateful but also distracted. I suppose it has to do with the busyness and cares of life. They are always there.

But the bells, the dainty little bells that jingle in my ears, recalls my mind. Christmas is a time where life can be different. It is not irresponsibility, nor is it absentmindedness. Instead, it is a wholly different time of the year.

Christmas reminds us that there is always hope. There is still a new day, and the sun will always shine down upon us there. So be merry, they say. Be jolly! Embrace life and endeavor to show kindness and goodwill to your fellow man. It is a time of thinking less of ourselves and more of others.

This is good. I celebrate what is worth celebrating. Christmas reminds me that I am celebrated. It harkens back thoughts of adoption and belonging. I am in the most wonderful family in the universe! So are you. If you are not, then you can be.

Oh, to live with childlike joy and excitement! Some do not know what that is. It has been abandoned for some other cause thrust upon us. Christmas reminds us to be like children. Be jolly and hopeful again. Choose hope and faith in the face of all that would smother it.

Christmas is almost here. I will play my way there and will come out the other end with all the more “I’ll change and do better” in my heart than before. Come along; it is more fun if we go together.
